BUDAPEST (Reuters) - Hungary is considering an early repayment of outstanding sums owed on a 2008 loan from the International Monetary Fund, central bank Governor Gyorgy Matolcsy wrote in a letter to IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde on Monday.
"We are considering a possible early repayment of Hungary's outstanding obligations," Matolcsy wrote in a letter published on the central bank's website.
Matolcsy said he would also initiate closure of the IMF's resident representative office in Budapest, which he said was "not necessary to maintain" any longer.
