Bitter irony
Isn't it amazing that some members of Congress want to double student loan rates? ["Senate OKs student-loan interest-rate formula," News, July 25.]
The doubling of the loan rate will not affect any of them. It will just affect future citizens and leaders of America.
On second thought, they don't care that citizens go without food …
Welcome to 2013 America.

Fix the problem, not the symptom
The Democrats' ranting over increasing college tuition loan rates is typical of the Democrats' approach to any problem: Don't fix the problem, address the symptoms, and pretend the problem is being fixed.
It should be obvious that the real problem is the exorbitant cost of college tuition, which is steadily increasing way more than inflation. The Democrats can't fix that because it would involve reducing the number of unnecessary college employees, who are Democrat voters.
I hope this helps college students and potential students understand what is really going on and join in efforts to address
the real problem.
